
Jeff Berman is the founder of Berman Strategies LLC, where he advises clients on public policy issues and campaigns involving federal, state, and local governments. Mr. Berman’s practice is broad-ranging and includes policy matters in a number of different fields, including economic development, labor, transportation, homeland security, health care, telecommunications, energy, education, trade, agriculture, elections and other matters. He advises governmental entities, associations, corporations, labor unions, campaign organizations and other entities. Mr. Berman maintains contacts across a broad spectrum of elected and political leaders at the federal, state and local levels and in organized labor and national media outlets.
Mr. Berman is a noted expert in the Democratic presidential nomination process. He served as the Delegate Director for President Barack Obama's historic 2008 nomination campaign and authored The Magic Number: Inside Obama's Chase for the Presidential Nomination. He served as a consultant to Secretary Hillary Clinton's 2016 nomination effort and earlier was an advisor to the presidential campaigns of House Democratic Leader Dick Gephardt and Senator John Glenn. He has served on the Democratic National Committee and its important Rules and Bylaws Committee and on the DNC's 2017 and 2009 internal reform commissions.
Mr. Berman is a graduate of Brown University, magna cum laude, and Harvard Law School. He has served as a Visiting Scholar in Public Policy and Instructor in Government at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia and has lectured at a number of other major universities. He previously served as a partner in major international law firms and as congressional committee counsel.
